And what about for someone who is covered in bites already? Is there any cream or Chinese lotion that I could take sooth the bites?
I bought one of those florescant lights in the supermarket, the ones that have the electric mesh around it. I am now covered in mozzie repellant. Let them come...just let them come.
The mozzie population in Dalian is about to lose a few members...

Natural remedies: Eat oranges or lemons. Avoid bananas and wear light clothing. Smokers are less apt to be bitten than non smokers(Even mosquitoes hate the smell of smokers).

Regarding treatment for mosquito bites: the itching and swelling is not because of the bite or stab itself. It is actually due to chemicals that the mosquito injects into the skin.
When blood is exposed to air, it starts to harden or coagulate. This is nature's way of ensuring that people don't bleed to death from small wounds on the skin. In order to prevent the blood from hardening, mosquitoes inject chemicals into the skin when they bite (b******s). These chemicals work as an anti-coagulant and keep the blood in liquid form so that the mozzies can suck it up easily. It is the allergic reaction from these chemicals that is experienced as itching or swelling. Talk about adding insult to injury(Leeches do the same thing, though their chemicals don't seem to cause this kind of reaction.). Some people are more allergic to these chemicals than others. What is needed is some kind of anti-allergen that prevents this reaction, but that may be different for each person. I'm not sure that any cream or lotion can do this job. Would love to know about any, though.
If using a mosquito net, be aware that the mozzie can and will bite you through the net if some part of the body is in contact with the net as you sleep. Mozzies don't take hints.
When I come across half-dead mozzies, I don't kill them. I pick them up gently, look around for a good cobweb with a spider in it, and toss the mozzie into the cobweb. This sometimes takes a few tries. I then sit back and watch the spider suck the mozzie dry. Give it a taste of its own medicine.
Mozzies, cross me at your peril. Mwaahahahahahahahaha.
