What about index cards? Also, I have not been able to find single edged razor blades.

Apparently loose-leaf binders are not used much in China so the binders and three holed paper is difficult to find--at least for me.

Potato Mashers not available?
I've got one! Got it at Wal-mart.

Try again.

I've got loose-leaf binders. Found them at a stationery shop in Shenyang. I haven't looked here for them, but shouldn't be hard to find. I brought a three-hole punch with me, but... it's for 8 1/2 by 11 paper, not A4. Needless to say, A4 is too long for the three-hole punch.

Since I was able to find three-hole binders, it reasons that paper or a punch is available.

Next time I'm out, I'll look around. It may be a while, though.

Re:What Should You Bring When Moving to Dalian? 3 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I will be moving to Dalian in May, and the main items I plan to bring are things that have sentimental value to me.

For example, the sock-monkey that my great grandmother made. My mom played with it when she was a little girl, along with my sister and I. I have a ceramic spider that my niece made for me (it's a blue color with red eyes, but hey, it means a lot to me. Pictures on the computer (about 10,000 of them) of my family and friends. There are some things that money just can't replace, even in China.

So far, the non-sentimental items I plan to bring are my stereo speakers, my computer, a few books (ok, a lot of books), a few clothes, and that's about it. Actually, I suppose the speakers and the contents of my computer are sentimental items too. I love good stereo sound. All my music is stored on the computer hard drive, and the CDs and albums are safely stored away in Oregon. I'll pick up an amplifier when I get to China, or an drop-down transformer to run my stereo.

I have a VOIP adapter (Sipura SPA1001) that's about the size of a pack of cigarettes, along with a phone. I just plug it into a network port and my home phone is active. Very nice for local calls home, with each local US phone number costing $1.50 and calls at 1.4 cents per minute to anywhere in the US. The first thing I did when I moved from Oregon to Arizona last month was hook up the cable modem and get my phone working.

I took the advice of a few previous posters, and stocked up on underwear. I might as well be comfortable!

What about winter clothes? I'm currently in Arizona, with daytime temperatures above 100F. I'll be moving to China in the beginning of summer, but what about winter coats/clothes? Should I wait and buy in China, or should I bring clothes from the states? Thermal underwear?

I use a Gillette Mach3 razor with replaceable blades. Is this available in China? Should I start checking for a sale on blades (they are really expensive unless they are on sale)?
