@Jon
I know I am new here but I have read the site for a while before I decided to sign up. I notice this thread is about three days old and I think you make some good points. Its interesting that the person you wrote this for has not yet answered anything here. Has this Jim person given you an e-mail or anything?? Did you email him directly? If this Jim guy hasnt said anything then it looks like he either doesnt care enough what people on here think or doesnt respect members on here. I hope the rest of the community on here isnt as careless and disrespectful. My feeling is most people here are OK. I just hope this JIM guy doesnt get all pissed off and decide to close the site just because he's upset that people dont think hes doing his job. Even though I am new here I hope this guy takes your concerns seriously and addresses the problem. Hiding from the problems and shirking responsibility is not a way to run a business or a website or anything. Problems dont get solved that way. Coltsfan and Huangdi101 I see next to your names it says Admin and Moderator. I guess you people cant really say too much but I wonder what people in your position think about this thread and what Jon has said. Do you have contact with Jim?? Do you know why he hasnt answered Jon yet?

Yo Middle Finger, interesting nickname, first of all I fear noone so I will answer my part. I liken the relationship with Jim to that of a numbered operative in S.P.E.C.T.R.E organization and Jim is #1 and I'm probably number 10 and just low enough to not have make the gadget board room to have seen his face or his furry cat, those of you who loved You Only Live Twice may understand the analogy.

Jon's words inspire attention and debate here and they are clean and I see them as having the intention of being constructive. I see no harm here. Noone is swearing or discriminating. The site is changing and many need to know that it will continue to evolve. Only few understand that hosting a website costs money as do having techs and the other behind the scenes people that make here so great. Things aren't perfect and many of the friends here, including me, remember the better days of the past and long to see them return if possible, within reason of course. Some things need changing, and will be changed and our moderators and admins are working together to address these problems and I ask for a bit of patience.

As for the Jim issue, I have no answer at this time. I am not able to wave my wand and make him apparate into anyone's living room to satisfy their issues. I wish that in the future everything will go as it should and that the loyal patrons would be happy. We shall see. I can say little more on the issue as I simply don't know all the details but all I can say is that I am here to serve the people and that is what I intend to do. That does not mean some people would have a free pass to cause mischief so please be considerate to each other.

Back to the topic.

Re:An open letter to Jim 4 Months ago
I think we all agree that this web is helpful expecially for the newcomers in dalian to get certain information. As for the forum, people could make their voice heard and get connection with someone of their own set or assimilate new ideas.
This is a benign website. We can't judge it on the basis of some people who have way much strong characteristers to show on the forum. It's nice to exchange ideas and get spark in them. Whether we could reach agreement or not,friendship starts with due respect and polite statement.
It needs a lot of efforts to manage a web and make it work. Don't push it all to the moderators BECAUSE WE'RE PLAYING A VERY IMPORTANT ROLE IN IT. what kinda atmosphere we wanna get here? A sense of belonging to our own culture and sharing or showing our superiority and comtempting for others' ideas?
Some people did do harm here and moderators need some work and time to fix it. I should say those peole who stick to their own ideas and never feel tired to biteback got some spirit.But they just put it in the wrong place or we say, the improper way.So either they get ridded as a messing note of a tune or corrected to be harmonius.
I do believe this web can get over this. Because as the administrators say, it is here to help people to know dalian and it is here to find friends and it is here, you can feel something like home.
