Well, you might still consider to get a cheap chinese mobile phone too.
It's more than convenient if people can sms you for example an address in a form that the normal taxidrivers can understand. That does'n work with a foreign phone.
As far as I have seen by now Siemens display dots and Nokia squares for every chinese character
