Welcome!
Finally, cooler weather! But the pace of construction only seems to increasing. In a huge cloud of dirt and dust, I saw old apartment block come down in Hei Shi Jiao. And I counted at least 5 or 6 high rises nearing completion along the #202 route south of Maritime.
Old timers in Shanghai told me that in the years just before before the foreigners arrived – i.e. before the bars, restaurants and nightlife came - that city went through a rapid physical makeover. Maybe something similar is on the way here.
DalianXpat has been building too. We've made many website changes:
-weather (that's why I know it's cooler),
-news/blog feeds,
-Dalian pictures,
-a new (temporary) look'n' feel.

A big change is ahead in the next week or so – we'll be going `live' with a Dalian `Reviews/Directory" listing. Things have been quiet on the review front recently, this is why; we hope they will go BANG very soon! From restaurants to bars to bookshops to golf courses, with we'll have addresses, contact details, and importantly, a system for you to rate, search, and leave comments on any Dalian business you visit.
Online is not the only the way to stay in touch. Around the 18th, we'll be having a party to welcome a new bar to Dalian, so keep your evenings free! More details coming soon. This would be a great opportunity to put names to faces (or indeed stay anonymous and play a guessing game)!
We could certainly use more help with the website. If you'd like to donate some time or yourself to this most worthy of causes, we need:
-a photo editor and organizer,
-help gathering events calendar,
-bar/nightlive/music reviewers
-expertise of Dalian businesses/services,
-a mapping project with Google.
