I've used the Shangri-la and Furama exchange desk before, but I think they've changed their rules so that only people staying there can exchange. SGL had a 4000 rmb per day limit last time.
I have a friend who stays there, so I just have him exchange it for me. Not sure about their rates as opposed to a bank, but when I first arrived here I was informed that they were better than the bank.
Maybe some can confirm this?
