Going Home. After 1.5 years it will involve some reverse culture shock. Sure for those of you have experienced it you know what I mean, for those of you who have not you will be surprised. Reverse culture shock is the opposite of what happened when you arrived here. Excitement, fear, lonliness, anger, acceptance is the typical structure. It can vary with people but if this is your first overseas experience you will likely have it when you go home. First its exciting, you are home, whoo hoo, friends, family all great. Then you feel different somehow, perhaps its seeing your home country from outside for a change without the rhetoric you are used to. If you learned some chinese, you start trying to speak with with Asians, regardless if they are chinese(did this on a flight back once) Then you sit at home and it feels different, not sure how to explain this but for those of you have experienced it , you know what I mean.
For me two weeks back will be filled with parents and fast food. My life is so different now, its hard for me to stay home for a long time without missing something. I just share this cause if you are going home its normal to go through the process and if you stay long enough eventually you get back to where you were, but you always have this thinking in the back of your head if you are missing something.....
