Huangdi, I was speaking as a UK English speaker. Anyone fron the UK will tell you what I ajm saying is correct. I really don't care what is correct in China as this is a xpat website. I never wanted to offend but even across the pond different terms do not actually cross over very well as we know with comedians from our common countries

I think it would be a matter of mutual politeness not to use the words that can be understood as offensive by those to whom English is as a second language. It is not a choice of these people to use English in the forum, but an obligatory rule.
As for traditions, in some parts of the world reporting to moderator about rudeness and receiving a logical warning can not be considered as something extra surprising as well.

Of f you go again. This is an expat website where most of the people have english as 1st or 2nd language. On a Chinese or a Russian website would I have so much leverage - I don't think so !

Guys, guys, my words meant that we simply don't all know the meaning of everything English speakers say, though we all speak English. Wanker is not a word we use in USA. A moderator from USA may see it used in a sentence and think it is offensive without looking at the true meaning or knowing. I know what rickus said is true about wanker because I know people like funkymother and back in the States I used to hang with my British guests at the hotel. Hence, I was backing up rickus by saying its easy to misunderstand sometimes and its good he clarified it.

Russian people are friends to me. I love Russian food and I respect and am interested in Russian culture. I am lucky to have at least one friend here whom is Russian. USA and Russia were the world's biggest adversaries for quite some time and I don't care actually. If a Russian came to my home, I would make sure he or she didn't leave wanting for a meal.

This is DalianXpat, the only valid language is English. I speak the American, Brooklynese dialect and also Southern USA dialect, of English. Words I use are different. In New York I say "how you doin?", meaning how are you. In Florida I say "how y'all deau'in" same meaning. I can say stuff that may be misunderstood even within my own country as being naughty language.

Please, for the love of things, stop bickering. Stop it! Just stop! This is very dodgy of everyone. I don't care about other sites, I care about this one. Everyone has their moments and have been moderated. We should be open to differences, both of you. Rickus, he's not from a native speaking country but now he speaks in English and its English any way we can see it. It was our own bumbling goof of a pres. Bush, who said 3 years back that the languages Americans should be learning for the future are Chinese, Japanese, Russian, and Arabic, he's right and these for major language speakers fuel the world's economics alot now, respect. HopgerrantiFa66ggd7, you should not be quick to judge for what you may not know to be true. Rickus clearly explained it before I butted my head in here and for you to make your comment in that way would make even me feel as though I were not speaking true rather making stuff up, hence the reply from him. Rickus, back off the Russian talk, we don't need another Cold War or worse, not in Expat, not in this world. Its time to come out of our bunkers, toss away our radiation jackets, and all go for a beer and a vodka, or a Mao Tai, we are in China afterall. Neither of you have the right to judge each other. Go to your corners, rooms, whatever, and cool off. I won't tolerate another word about this. Consider it topic done. The next person to inflame here will incur my wrath regardless friend or not. That means stop goading each other into more bickering, stop the war of words, stop it. I like both of you guys, for different reasons but I will not hesitate to lower the boom on anyone who goes further. I mean it.
