I still haven't been confirmed that I will relocate to Dalian but this thread makes me think that I better find out what mexican food ingredients might be available.
Are any of these avaiable at any of the markets (Metro, carrefour, etc...)
Flour tortillas
Corn tortillas (not chips)
Vegetable shortening
I'm figuring the tortillas will not be available so may have to start practicing making home made!
Also are there any problems receiving cooking ingredients through customs? Either shipping or brought in luggage? I'm thinking I'll have to bring some red chile powder and masa harina (corn flour) at the minimum to get my regular mexican food fix.

Metro can supply you with Flour tortillas and Nachos, among other ingredients. They do have.
There is a factory in China named MISSION they also sell flour tortilla in different sizes, corn tortilla, yellow and white corn, and they can ship everywhere in China (this factory is supposedly to be Mexican, but i don't know why, then the name is in english).
My boss import products from La Costena, but im not sure he can sell one to you or a couple, probably yes.
I have try the corn powder here, and its too bitter. useless for making the tortilla Dough.

QUOTE: Yeah, it's too bad I missed the one at the Shangrila. Was it better? Hopefully they'll return next year... or sooner! :)
Don't worry, I think they are going to have another chance next time. Well, I heard they are now in Shenyang. If you have a travel plan for the weekend, you may see them until 18th I think at the Trader's Hotel.
