McDonalds 2 Years, 3 Months ago
Went to McD's at Carrefor Sanba Square last night at 8pm. Not very busy at all but the staff did not give a toss, laughing and joking in Chinese whilst I was giving my order which meant mistakes to rectify. I had a premonition and felt the fries which were stone cold, then my burger, again cold and chicken wings the same. The dirty looks I got nearly made me cancel my order but I thought sod it and waited for new ones. No apology given but perhaps I've been in China too long so I didn't force the issue as I did in the first two years. I know Chinese don't mind cold food but I hate it when it's supposed to be hot. Once again it's this don't care/ take it or leave it attitude especially when they have your money. Will it ever change?

I don't think it will ever change. The Chinese in China, and globally think and act the same way, regardless of where they are, from my experience. The only thing you have to do it accept it.

It's a functional aspect to their being, where as long as they served their purpose - and in this case, serve you food as they are suppose to, nothing else matters. You feel bad and don't want to raise any issues or offend anyone. And the irony is if you do, they will hate you more as you are a foreigner.

I understand as Englishmen we are quite reserved and generally 'accepting' of things, even when they are not how we want or need them. I think we have all been in China long enough to know aout this but it still happens. I try never to go "Cjinese" but a quick lose of temper, the losing face things, usually gets someone doing something.I have generally found McDs ok and when I have had a problem I just get teh nearest supervisor to do something...

In KFC, He Ping Sq, I actually saw a customer throw their tray on the floor in disgust!. Maybe thats te way to be... Which McDs was it?

That's kind of strange. I have always gotten good service at the McDonalds here, but I have not been to that particular McDonalds. The service at the ones I have been to is usually much better than most restaurants I have been to in Dalian. I know that McDonalds prides itself on good service, so I would definitely recommend contacting them. Here is their contact info here in Dalian:

McDonald's Restaurants Food Co.
Room 908 Dalian Pearl River
International Building
99 Xin Kai Road, XiGang District
Dalian 116011 China
Phone* : 86-411-270-5961
Fax* : 86-411-9927

My guess is that someone will lose more than face, but that will improve service at all of their restaurants here.
