Can anyone recommend a good place to chill on a Sunday afternoon and have a few beers whilst watching the world go by ?

Depends what part of town you are in. Would be nice to get a list of places with happy hour or other specials.

I liked the Jun Bar (near LNU). Starbucks downtown can be good for people watching (no beer). I like the outdoor chairs at Dave's, near Zhongshan Square (may open 5 pm or so).

Anyone else?

The Box is in the software park, next to Trustmart/Finance University.

Box should be cool. Gotta get out there soon. Haven't been there in a long while.

For anyone unclear about getting to the Box, the Chinese name is Hezi Gongchang (盒子工&#21378 and it's on the north side of trustmart, near The Economics and Finance West Gate (东财西们 = dongcai ximen).

In the past, my favorite summer activities were buying some beer and sippin' em at Renmin Sq. or Olympic Square in the evening. Very relaxing. But we're getting into spring, so time is running out.

Bringing a tent for staying at the beach overnight is always fun too.

I just visited Dalian for the weekend.

I-55 was nice on a Sunday afternoon. Nice outiside seating. Service was typically Chinese though (i.e. rude).

Stopped in Noah's too but didn't feel like sitting in the dungeon downstairs or in the junkyard out front.

Overall I was not too happy with the alfresco seating options (or lack thereof) in Dalian.
