Happy Together is one of my favorite low cost Korean restaurants, one of several small, tasty, friendly Korean restaurants near Liaoning Normal University (LNU) campus that, I surmise, help give the numerous Korean students a taste of home.
Each table is surrounded by simple woodwork, like a fence and covered with multi-lingual graffiti, and Korean language TV plays in the background. Still Happy Together is a step above a "hole in the wall." No English, crowded at lunch time and a short walk outside the east gate of LNU, best to find a Korean friend to take you. 8422-7475 (Chinese/Korean?)
Anyone tried this or other Korean restaurants near LNU?

i have tried all of them and happy together is probably the moist comfy - and theres a bigger chance to get seats there as they have more tables, unlike the others which are as big as a dugout... however i still think (as a student) and being a regular at most of them for well over ba year, all those korean places are slightly overpriced and to be honest i think they all taste the same. and the only difference is what comes next to the kim chee when u walk in... maybe runner beans, maybe cold patato, maybe black things in syrup (???)

If you're willing to make the trip there's a pricy, but amazing, North Korean restaurant called "3,000 Miles" in Kaifaqu (The Development Zone).

I'd like to try, too. How far is 3,000 miles (the restaurant) from the train station in Kaifaqu?

It's a short taxi ride from Five Colour City (Wu Cai Cheng). Just tell the taxi driver "Ping2 Rang3 San1 Qian1 Li3" (the numbers represent the tone) The name in English is "P'yongyang 3,000 Miles". My girlfriend insists that 98% of the taxi drivers will know the place.
The food is great, but the best bit (and I'm not certain this is every night) is when the waitresses put down their order pads and hit the guitars and keyboards for a musical number. Class act.
Maybe it's because I was living in Jinzhou for so long my affinity for Kaifaqu grew, but I really dig that place. It's a nice night out, especially in the summer with a visit to the beach.
