So I spent just over a week looking at all sorts of places in all sorts of locations. Contrary to what I said earlier, I ended up taking a place right in the middle of some of the biggest malls in Dalian!

I'm right in between Carrefour, Walmart, Roosevelt and Dianzi Cheng on Xi'an Lu

I saw a couple of places in Hei Shi Jiao but the apartments themselves were not great. The location was OK (nearby shops and beach) although I didnt like the main street itself. Most of the buildings there are old-style and so that reduces the options if you don't like that.

Also, because I only wanted to rent for 3 months, most landlords weren't interested so I couldnt be too picky.

I saw a couple of great apartments in yiping xinghai with great views of the sea but those places were miles from supermarkets and restaurants.

Anyway, I decided that the most important thing was to have everything close at hand: shops and public transport etc. So Xi'an Lu fitted that perfectly. Also very quick to get into the Zhongshan district etc.

Shame about having nowhere nearby to go jogging, but I joined a gym instead.
