Sorry I have been gone for a while. Here are more details about the group. The Kai Fa Que area group meets during week days from about 8:30-10:30 (or 11). Generally, ayis are there with the children (instead of the mommies).
The youngest one in the group is about 18 months old. My son is 22 months. The rest of the kids are over 2 years old. About five kids regularly attend the groups but sometimes it is up to eight kids. There are kids that don't come regularly.
The group rotates from one apartment to another every day following a set schedule. That way the kids have new toys and a new environment. There isn't really a structure to the way the kids play. It is free play.
As for a weekend play meeting, my husband and I are definitely interested in meeting more couples with kids and having our tots play together. I find that it is especially beneficial for the kids. Toddlers get easily bored and it can be hard to entertain them.
Once the weather warms up, we can have picnics at the UFO park (that is how I refer to the place, don't know what the real name is)while we let the kids run around. There is another, less busy, park by the light rail station as well.

My husband and I work for Gymboree at Peace Plaza. We are happy to know that you are happy with Gymboree. We are both from America and this program is a great program. We will be working at the new center opening near Tiger Beach soon but for now we are still at Peace Plaza. Hope to see you there.

I would also like to know if there is any gathering for parents with babies at the downtown area. I'm from Hong Kong and my husband is from Germany. Our son is 9 month old. I haven't really been travelling around since I'm here and I believe Kai Fa Qu is a bit too far away from where we live even though I have never been there. We are now living in ZhongShan area but will probably move to the Qing Hai Square area in April.
I guess I'll visit the gymboree as well.
