New to Dalian 8 Months, 1 Week ago
Suppose its my turn now

My name is Emil Jansson and i come from Sweden.
Im in Dalian because my company decided to move a department to China i will not say name
*cough HP cough*

So yes i now work at HP Dalian as a coach for the team.
So far i have a work permit for 1 year but they want me to stay 2 years, i will see if i can stay that long, i suppose it all depends how i like it here.

Im 27 years old but act and look as 24.
183 cm tall and my weight is unknown since i haven't check for a long time.

So far i dont like Dalian. but thats only because its cold and i dont know the place and the language
and im very open minded so when i have overcome that issue i bet i will love it. I have great chines colleagues that are very friendly but unfortunately they dont like the same thing as i do.

What i want to do on my spare time now in Dalian is to learn to dance Salsa (been trying to get time for it in 2 years now but seems to find a excuse all the time) But now i need to end that, i suppose you all have seen my post about it. Feel free to contact me if you know a place. And my working our is a bit bad but will sure try, If a private teacher want to sign up PM me just so you know im bad. very bad.

I also want to train some thai boxing or something similar, So anyone have any ideas ? Feel free to PM me. Also here im a beginner.

During the summer i would like to play Tennis and some Golf. And ofc tan on the beach.

I always want to learn new things and no i dont want to go and skii im swed, i was skiing before i could walk

Well i hope i will meet some of you or all.

Cheers
Emil

Hey Emil, welcome to Dalian.

Don't worry, I'll keep you updated on everything Salsa-related! You'll have to be patient with Dalian's mini salsa scene because until just a few months ago it was non-existent. I was surprised when I moved here last year and found that there was nothing at all... I mean nearly every major city in the world has salsa dancing nowadays. But I've met some other people who are interested and we're working on building something. You've come at the right time. We're planning to get it going in just a few weeks. We're bringing in an excellent teacher from Shanghai, and there are bars in Dalian and KaiFaQu that are willing to host Latin dance nights. Plus, I'm thinking that once people try it out and see how fun it is it will probably grow quickly. Especially when the weather gets warmer and people are in the mood to go out. I think you'll find that summers here in Dalian are a lot more fun than winters: great weather, more lively, and there's more going on.
Another advantage of learning in Dalian now is that often when you visit Salsa clubs in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, etc. you see people dancing really well and it can be intimidating as a beginner to get out on the floor when everyone around you looks like pros. At least in Dalian nearly everyone is starting out at the beginner level, so if you start learning now and know even a few basic moves you can be one of the best dancers in town.

Cheers,
Jess
