hi all, to be honest, when i decided to reply this message,i already knew you will think my comments are biased only because i am their friends.i really wanna know if you must suspect mine only due to my position? i just wanna everyone could understand All's Well. As i said, everyone has own favorite,i was just saying what i experinced as well. i am only on behalf of myself.in addition, i have a private question, actually i don't know why you used "boycott" to treat All's Well,i am a Chinese, maybe i understand this word not very well, could everyone kindly understand all the shops and restaurants which are growing up and really wanna supply nice sevice? As to you said that "All's Well likes to advertised that they are the foreigners' best friend...."i think it is their nice goal and they are making great efforts,of course,All's Well still has many places need to improve, they need your support and help, pls give their kindly and friendly suggestion not just dumping and boycotting...

Tangtang, in business, nomatter China or States or elsewhere, the way to survive is to give the consumer what they want. If you take from the consumer, it works sometimes and sometimes it does not. I commend your ability to man up and defend them although I still feel your opinion is biased based on relationship with the boss, while my opinion is solely based on experiences.

Many people have been loyal to All's Well. I have eaten there 2 times myself. The food is just soso, it does not compare to food back at home. The dishes are not generous in portion size, rather they are a bit skimpy, which suits the traditional Chinese thinking of many restaurants that serve Western foods. The recipes are nothing to shout about and with traditional brand names such as Olive Garden and Pizza Hut, if I wanted to eat home food then I'd want to eat there. You need something extra to win over the foreign masses. Yes, you present yourselves as the foreigner's best buddy but in business the best restaurants are the ones that leave the customer feeling satisfied and full. To maximize profits you need to spend to make. If you expect to pay someone's 1 month salary on a table party of 4 in one sitting, and raising prices or charging for beer is your solution, you will fail. That is the power of "CHOICE" by the loyal consumer done wrong. That is also basic economics. You never directly pass on the fees to the consumer. You have to reduce your profit margin or come up with a creative and innovative idea to get the foreigners to part with their money, add new things for them to try and make those things quality. Charging 5RMB for a beer is a small thing to you and doesn't cost much to us but however we take it as an unacceptable way to treat those whom you should appreciate, its like you are saying "we have to do it this way because we have no other way so please understand us" but we take it as "so this is how you pass the charge increase on us? Take away our free beers?" and you just don't realize how much free beers means to us. So, if you choose to say "now you must pay" why can't we say "hey, no way, we'll go elsewhere to teach you a lesson"?

TangTang
I am only here since last week, but have been monitering the Dalian expat site for about 3 weeks now.
I wouuld like for you to know that the opinions of Huangdi101 though loud and abusive in most cases are not necessarily thos of all foreighner's and espacially Americans on this site.

I understood your point and agreed with it.
