Yesterday I went to I Cafe in Shangri-La hotel to check the Thai food promotion.
Has a Thai Chef, with real Thai ingredients and authentic tastes. I wasnt expecting much, but it was great.
The performances were also enjoyable, something different from the normal song & dance...
There was real Thai boxing and sword fighting, sounds strange but very exciting to watch, also the Thai carver in the entrance works wonders with fruit & soap carvings...
Overall, was a great entertaining dining experience, worth a visit.

I went there on Friday, not knowing what to expect, but was surprised to see the Thai boxing and Sword fighting. I found it different but exciting.
The food was also very nice, had the Thai Chef recommend me some dishes and spoke to him. He speaks a little English. The products are from Thailand which I guess is what gives the food an authentic flavour.
Give it a try, it will be there for another week...

Too late now. I heard the Thai special at the ShangriLa ended last weekend.
But I also heard there is a new Thai restaurant opening up in Dalian this month. I can't remember the name... Banana something, I think. It was advertised in one of the Japanese magazines. I've eaten at a place with the same name in Xi'an, so I'm thinking it's a branch of that. If so, I don't know how authentic it is... the stuff we had was a little Chinesey, but I'm looking forward to finally having a Thai option in Dalian.
