Re:What was the the last thing you did? 9 Months, 1 Week ago
I packed up my apartment and moved all of my stuff to my parents home. Then, I drove to Chicago (3+ hours to the nearest Chinese Consulate's office to get my visa. Spent the rest of the day with my family.

I think this is a great Forum Post. Our last few days were spent with the movers packing up our household to put into storage.
But once the packing was done her company gave her a week off and we spent it with family and friends.
I played Poker a couple of times because I knew that I wouldn't get to here in Dalian. She just relaxed and enjoyed the time off.
One thing I wished we had done was like Jess did, stock up on a few "western" things, like medicines and other creature comfort stuff. But we will get several of those when we go home for vacation.
I look forward to reading the replies.

This is a great question!
I drank three of my favorite bottles of wine. Those I knew would be hard to find in China. Also, I ate my favorite foor, e.g. cioppino (sp?), sashimi and sushi, etc.
I also did a lot of shopping: outlets for clothes, shoes, vitamins, books etc. When we left the States, we had 8 luggages and 4 carry-ons ....
It was one of the busiest weeks of my life ...

Hey Jim, I've heard there are some expats who get together for poker nights sometimes at one of the bars (I think it was Bobo's bar but I'd have to check with my friend who goes). Drop me a PM if you want me to find out for you.
