Is E.Q. still popular among managers in China? 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Well, I presume that most expats who have a chance to work as managers or even entrepreneurs in China are familiar with the Emotional Quotient, with its popular model by Goleman. (almost sounds like G-man here!) I just want to know any oozing thoughts on this especially those members here who are in managerial positions right now. If so, how can it be of help to some local managers if it does work well?

I suggest you read more on this subject of E.Q., particularly the Goleman's model. BTW, I think I knew what you mean by controlling emotions but that's not what I am referring to here.
E.q. according to the model is the "true basis of Human Intelligence". You can go to google if you have still doubts about this.

Coming from managerial experience in China, and also running an export business. There is no such thing as rest, there is no such thing as play. If you are making a manager's salary you will work harder than anyone you ever knew. Yes, money helps but to what extreme? When does money earned vs time with friends or family determine your life's future? Ask yourself which is more important? Time or money? In this country, there is only one way, the machine's way. If you put your own personal ideals into your work, you would be gone as a manager. If it's business, you have to be driven to get ahead the multiple like competitors in the same field, these are the truths we all face. I hope this helps.
