I have a question concerning Thai food, I really miss Thai Food but I am unable to find any Thai restaurant so far in Dalian. I went through those magazine for the Japanese Expats as well and also the local telephone operator 0411-114 but no news too. I even call the concerige services in Shangri-la, Swiss Hotel, Kempinski etc but they also show no clues.
So I am seeking help in this forum to see if there is anyone here in this forum who can provide some info.
Thank you in advance.
Regards,

Re:Any Good Thai Restaurant in Dalian? 2 Years ago
Jondlc,
I was just in Dalian last week and I asked the same question about the potential whereabouts of a Thai restaurant with several locals and also Expats who have been working in Dalian for some time. Unfortunately the answer I received was there is none they knew of.
I hope someone on this forum knows otherwise but I am not sanguine about prospects of finding a Thai eatery in Dalian.
Someone, help us get our Thai fix!!!

There are two Thai restaurants in Dalian, one is more Chinese but theo ther is pretty authentic. I'm not sure of the addresses but they are only five minutes taxi ride from Carrefor at Sanba Square

There IS a Thai restaurant! It is on Wang Hai Jie, near the junction of Wu Wu Lu, near Da Wai (actually, nearer the 'Botantical Gardens'.
It's in what looks like a gated collonial-style house, a yellowish wall on the outside and a couple of waiters usually standing outside to meet customers.
Good food.

call them at 82779797 if you can't find it.
They're called Guan Di, or the Official Reidence restaurant.
One word of warning before everyone flocks there:
The menu is chinese only (as of the time of my last visit), so it's probably best to bring a chinese friend if you can't read chinese.

I've been here once and I must agree the food was good. The menu was in Chinese but we were able to manage by pointing to pictures and asking which was beef, chicken or pork. There was one server who spoke a little English and she helped a bit. Not expensive, either! We ordered a sample platter that had chicken wrapped in pandan leaves (we call them "pandan" in the Philippines, I'm not sure what they're called elsewhere), crab cakes and Thai BBQ. We also had a red curry dish and fried rice with pineapple. Yummy.
We took the 23 bus all the way to the end, and it's past the Japanese street. There are 2 big lanterns in front and nice gazebo in the garden.
