Food, Bars, Nightlife - Dance Clubs - Recommendations

Post subject: Dance Clubs - Recommendations

I've recently arrived in Dalian, and was interested in finding some clubs/bars that played dance music, but all I've managed to find is R&B which really isn't my thing.

Does anyone have any suggestions? By dance, I mean trance, (super) eurobeat, even some electronica. Not Backstreet Boys! Decent stuff like in the clubs of London, Amsterdam, Berlin or Prague.

Any advice would be hugely hugely hugely appreciated!

I'm definitely the wrong guy so I hope others jump in, but I think you might be disappointed. Maybe Shanghai.

Some Dalian clubs I've just heard about...Grammy, FireBird.

Anyone? I think we need a club/bar guide for Dalian.

Banana Bar!! You think 25rmb for a beer is cheap!!! well compared to A'dam it is but then the music isn't up to it. Try the small room in the Banana bar at Hope square. It has a better scene and music than the big room and they will even play your own CD's, if they like them. Where is JJ's when you need it!!!!

Thanks for the advice. I'll look forward to bringing my somewhat particular tastes to this city. I understand the owner of JD's is open to CD donation, so may drop some by in there.

Where did you go to find r&b in Dalian? Rather partial to this music, myself...
Thanks,
Stan

Maybe you could go to Jazz Bar to take a look, between san ba square and sea port square.

fyi: Jazz Bar is located on DanDong Jie, about 30-40 meters east of intersection DanDong Jie/WuWu Lu. 8272-9791. Based on only visit, I thought the music was more jazz/blues, music you listen to, not dance to, and pretty good. Careful, a coke will set you back 15 rmb and cheapest beer is 20 rmb. Still, a nice place.

Tried Hongchan. Music was quite sweet. But man was it lacking in people. Went at around midnight on a Saturday and it was deserted bar a group of girls milling around and another group of business men. Not bad in one way but didn't have 'vibe'. I hope it takes off, and may pop my head throught the door occassionally.

However I have found a bar which can only be described as awesome. Great great music, live punk bands, live DJs with some quite excellent dance. It's just off Xi'an road. Beers are 5RMB but go there for the music not the drinking. Only downside is the cool temperature (was around 0oC inside with live music and a few people), but they do give you hot tea if you look cold! Not a commercial bar by any stretch (yet), so go there for the music. Called RA Club.
