Sports activities for a group of 20 students 2 Years, 5 Months ago
Hi Guys and Gals,
Next week I have a group of 20 Russian students arriving for a month. We have an afternoon of sports scheduled once a week.
Does anybody have any good suggestions?
I'd love to play touch rugby with them, but I can't think of anywhere to do it.
It's unbelievable that I've been here for so long but still don't know of a field or a park where you are actually allowed to step on the grass.
I'd really appreciate any ideas.
Thx in advance,
Mat

we used to play a bit of touch rugby at olympic on the astro turf man.... not quite grass but it worked well enough - also it being only touch, the chance of rippin your skin off by the carpet of fire (my little name for artificial turf, cos wen I slide tackle in footie, it burns like a biatch...) is reduced as its only touch rugger.....
other than that, if you have a contact at Li Gong Da Xue then u can easily get their grass pitch for a few hours. Students and affiliates of Li Gong use it and can reserve it for free, and it aint a bad little patch of grass considering what else is to offer this side of jin zhou.....

yo,
at certain times wen u know olympic will be packed, u gotta book it in advance, but times like wednesday early evenings, most afternoons bar weekends, u can just go down there, everyone pays 10 kuai at the gate and your set -
if u dont book in advance and u just go down there at a prime time chances are you'll be lucky to get a little spot, but u mite be lucky if u wait around for a while.
if I were you, I'd book a 2 hour slot knowing your garunteed the patch at that time -
cheers

I would definitely recommend staying away from Olympic Sq on the weekends coz its just way too busy there. We use Olympic every Wednesday and Saturday evening and we're currently looking for a new spot on the weekends as its just too crowded now. During the week is not so bad, and you should be able to find a spot easily enough after 7pm.
For prices, as Weev said, its 10 kuai per person after 6pm any day of the week (if you can find a spot). If you wanna book it before 6pm, the prices go from 300 (quarter pitch), 400 (half pitch) and 600 (full pitch). These prices are either for 1 hour or 2 hour session - sorry I forget
For bookings, I believe the man to talk to is Wang - 13940969570.
If we have any luck finding another venue I'll be sure to let you know.
