Newspapers, Websites? 1 Year, 7 Months ago
I am moving to Dalian in August and was wondering where is the best place to look for jobs. I am living in Fuzhou and know that out here a couple local newspapers and a few websites are typically the way to go if you can speak/read Chinese. If not I think coming out here and asking via the ex-pat community will garner the highest paying jobs. What's the situation there? This web site is a huge help and any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated. I'm making 8800 a month teaching 15 hours a week now. Can I make that out there or is the demand to live there to high to expect that kind of salary for a teacher? Thanks again.

Todd

Local newspapers: <<大连晚报>>,<<半岛晨报>> and <<新商报>>. Not sure if you can find a teaching job from there though.

Todd,
http://www.51job.com/default-area.php?area=2303 is a link to a Chinese language job search for Dalian. This is typically the best site to search for a variety of jobs.

Monster.com also has a Chinese site that is quite helpful http://dalian.chinahr.com/ .
http://www.daliancity.com.cn/job/ is another link for job postings, but not as good as the other two.

Also, what are your qualifications? There are some schools here that are looking for well qualified teachers in business, as well as, English and other subjects.

NOTE: These sites are all in Chinese, though, there are some English language postings mixed in with the Chinese ones.

Whoa waita minute. Run that one by me again: you gross 8800Y a month and work only 15 hours. You don't need help, I do. I work for a key university and with 800 travel allowance and 1,000 housing subsidy, and I don't get near 8,000Y working 24 hours with 12 classes. At DUFL I worked 30 hours a week and barely made 6,000. Are you a Ph.d. out of MIT or some kind of whiz kid in IT? The only really big money in teaching here is in the international schools if you have a credible degree and teacher training they recognize. The Korean students will pay the 150 an hour you seem to be asking but good luck finding them. Wei hi might be the place to go in search of Korean students.
