These are exactly the kind of comments that I would expect from those 'flies' you so aptly named.
Four moderators and admin felt that the post was appropriate and beneficial for DalianXpat, so we discussed it a friendly manner and it was reposted.. Nobody grovelled, nobody sucked teats, nobody was pathetic and nobody was infantile.
We shared our opinions in a peaceful fashion and the thread was reposted. Everybody was happy.
Prof took the initiative to post new threads, and at the end of the day did it really matter where he got them from? If I were to copy a brochure and post it on Dalianxpat, would this be plagiarism? Yes, but who bloody cares? The point is the posts were constructive.
Now let's all listen to somebody who tries so well to be constructive and contribute to the community in such an eloquent fashion...

Just wanna drop my two pesos worth here.
After reading Prof's post, I totally support Big Al's decision. Nothing against anybody and heck I think this forum should be open to anybody to say what they want. I just think it was maybe too soon to pick up such a bitter topic again.
All the mistakes or offensive remarks were made because of generalizations and that's what we need to avoid in the future. Even good old Prof made it sound like we're all attacking China here. I'm sure he didn't mean that but that's what can be inferred there.
Great changes in the site and lots of (finally) useful info here. It just makes me sad that the most active threads are the ones were aggressiveness is present.
Anyway, methinks things are going the way they should. This a forum for people and people make mistakes.
Jim and the moderators are doing a great job here.

Let it go Doc. Majority will now gang up on you and drive your karma down for speaking your mind, just like they were speaking theirs, but because your on the opposite side they are on, you will feel the brunt of being the outsider on the majority vote. Let it go. Some have greater power and a strong following, and those that do not, are, well, look at your karma and tell me if any common poster is giving you the negative vote. Some know when to walk away or cash in their chips. I am cashing in mine, no matter what your opinion is, Doc, it will clash with others, it’s just part of life.

Everyone:
Many of your points (pro or con) are well-taken. The debate is good, useful, demonstrates that there is always more than 1 side to an issue; life is not black and white.
I promise to draft forum rules and post them. And I promise to help get a team of moderators (and tech admins, too) get up to speed asap, especially since some of you have good experience with forums. The open chat will open, in time.
Now, I appeal to everyone. This forum is about Dalian. In this regard, we are all on the same team. Let it pass.
I am supposed to pick up a bunch of passes to the RA Club. I think I can get something similar from other places or maybe a few restaurants. Let me try to get some to you.
