I only know Chinese speaking lawyers, but may be able to ask if one of them knows an English speaking one for you (this is dependent on getting a hold of one of them).
If you are working at a university you may end up spending more time and money on a litigation and a lawyer than what you will receive in return.
If you are at a private school there is a government agency that you can contact for such contract violations. I believe that it is called Dalian Foreign Businessmen Complaint Center. Here is the phone number 8378-0666.

Thanks, Pandapassport and Plizman. I meet Monday with the Foreign Affairs director here at my university to discuss one of many problems. I will probably bring up one other during the meeting. We'll see about the rest. Fortunately, I do have enough money to leave on my own if worse comes to worst.

The FAO and I met Monday, and our discussion went well. We settled 3 of my complaints as I requested. Of course, part of it has to do with money that will be paid in June, so follow through remains to be seen. The other violations, I can live with until the end of this term which is only a few weeks away.
