Woo Hoo Pizza!,  Friday, 29 June 2007

Well, it is not 'fine dining', but wow, it sure is good food. The usual one trip salad bar, but I got a sizable square bowl that held plenty. I might add that the selection at the salad bar was not huge, but everything on it was excellent. We had baked spinach, stuffed baked pizza, some kind of pasta with seafood, a multi-ingredient pizza and the garlic bread is one step beyond perfect. Everything was delicious, the plates were snatched away as the last morsel was taken, (I like that), the coffee was good and only 12 yuan. We even pigged out on desert. I think it was real ice cream and not iced milk.

Pizza was the main thing on the menu, but not the only thing. There were probably 20 kinds of pizza and each one could be customized. Portions are fine, the flavors distinctive and welcome.

A good value for the money spent, fit for a re-run.

Old European Flavor,  Friday, 15 June 2007

Great food and service and a fantastic menu, I can't wait to go try more dishes. The wine menu looked a little pricey, but it was pages and pages long. Real desert too.

I had a pasta dish (ordinary) beef in red wine (excellent-small portion) Caesar Salad (wonderful)and NY style cheese cake--ask for the strawberry sauce (a 6 as cheese cake goes). The guy next to me was eating a steak and it sure looked good. Very western--old European even. I'll go back---I wanna try that steak.

DiDi; real American thin crust pizza,  Saturday, 28 April 2007

I tried a number of American eatery's that disappointed, but not DiDi's. It has real Pizza Hut flavor, they don't skip on the toppings and the flavor is double over-eat. Plus, for 55 Yuan, I get a drink of my choice, all of that tasty pizza I can eat (they keep it coming non-stop too), all I can eat bread, a good tossed salad and some nice fruit salad are also included in the price.

One of the best part for me that bumped the ambiance rating ('cuz the place itself is ordinary) is the great company of other expats from all walks of life. As a teacher, the Dalian Expat outing give me a chance to talk with other about something besides school. I might add that it is a roundly mixed group of many nationalities and everyone speaks in English.

BTW, by all rights, I should give them a 10 on the food, heaven knows I eat enough of it that the casual observer would think I had found gold.

Recommended for a 'taste of the ole US'.
