The Riviera - Best food I have ever had anywhere,  Monday, 25 February 2008

I am slightly frustrated with the some of the reviews the Riviera has received due to 'the price of a meal'. Well, here's a suggestion, why not pop along to McDonald's, save yourself a few notes and enjoy a big mac on the bus home? Just a suggestion...

I have to say hands down that the Riviera's food is the best I have ever, yes, ever had. To be more specific about a certain dish in particular, the lobster ravioli was indeed to die for and with such a refreshing, delicious fusion of flavours in this one dish, by the time I had scoffed the last mouthful I had already run out of superlatives for the chef. The portions? Enough, I had quite a deliciously rich variety of foods during my 3 courses and if anymore was put onto my plate it would have very nearly spoilt everything including the presentation which is also excellent. At certain points during the course of the meal I almost felt guilty about digging my fork in! I was very much contented and full, half way through dessert.

The service? Amazing! I have never seen so many chinese waiter/waitresses with such a grasp of the English language here. Whether or not you have decided to grasp a little of this language whilst you have been here, it's certainly not needed at the Riviera and you will have absolutely no problem at all portraying your needs in english to anyone on the staff.

I will reiterate the fact that you get what you pay for, in this case unbelievable food, 5 star service and a pleasant, relaxed and beautifully decorated environment to enjoy an evening meal. To sum it up I had the best dining experience of my life thus far.

So a three course meal will not be cheap, it will set you back a pretty packet, however the Riviera is a 5 star restaurant in every aspect and if you want a 5 star meal with 5 star service then you will be paying 5 star prices.

I definitely recommend the Riviera for those special occasions, i.e anniversary, date or a birthday. I promise that you will not regret choosing to dine there and you will go back. (the menu isn't small and it will take you quite a while to choose exactly what you want to try!)

If you get the opportunity, try the Riviera for yourself, then please send me a message and tell me you have eaten better food than that anywhere in China, I certainly haven't.

Cheers.
