authentic mozzarella sticks, buffalo wings, toasted/seasoned burger buns, lime (for Corona, although they were out last time), a loungy area with ping pong table. Personally I enjoy the burgers over the pizza, although I think most folks might disagree with me.
I brought a few friends from around China to this place which proved to be the clincher for a great time in Dalian. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys sashimi (raw fish) and scallops. Oh man, the scallops topped with marinara sauce (available in a side bowl) is what I concentrate on.
I rank the service high because my plate was replaced every time I left the table. Ambience also ranks high because of the light music in the background. I don't know what other kind of music you'd expect at a high class buffet! Most of the expensive buffets I've been to in the U.S. tend to have pleasant lighter sounding music.
The cost of dinner fit the level of food, ambience, and service.
If I ever have friends come visit me in Dalian I'm taking them to Uminosato, which is actually Japanese/French fusion (i asked the teppanyaki guy).
I've eaten here twice, both times in the private rooms upstairs ordering from the set menu, tepanyaki. Once I had the dinner which was upwards of 200RMB! Another time I had the 99RMB Lunch Set menu which I feel had the most value.
Tina's Coffee, one of many restaurants in Heping Square I've ventured through. I got the "Escalante Pork", which I have no idea of the meaning of, but it was great! It's basically breaded pork with cheese and ham in the middle. For 38RMB you get some salad and a cup of rice.
The restaurant had great ambiance. I distinctly remember hearing a jazzy rendition of "When I Fall in Love (it will be forever)" and sinking comfortably into one of many couches. I was almost tricked into thinking I was back in the U.S...ok sorry getting carried away, but the truth is that I was!
There was also a nice waitress who spoke pretty good English. She indicated she might be starting up a new coffee shop, so look out for that!
These reviews seem to be so mixed. I came into this restaurant with a friend expecting comfort food, boy was I wrong! We ordered two items: Seafood Risotto and Chicken on Sweet Peppers. The Seafood Risotto had three pieces of seafood on top of rice. The Chicken on Sweet Peppers was another version of Sweet and Sour Chicken common to all chinese fast food eateries in America.
If I ever come back, I'll be sure to try the pizza. :P
