Olive Garden - the authentic choice, Friday, 04 April 2008
I found this place last week by accident, it is a little hidden and I was just walking around waiting for another meeting to start. I enjoyed it then, but when I found the previous comments, I thought I should try it again, just to confirm my first experience.
So I tried the restaurant again today and I must say I obviously made the much better experience then some other people before. I tried the italian dishes, not some of the other international ones, so maybe that's a reason why my critics turned out better.
I had Caprese with Tomato, perfect, nice simple oil and pepper, they offered me the Balsamico Vinegar, which I loved. I tried the Minestrone, which was simply good. The seafood Linguine was delicious and well stuffed with plenty of seafood. I am the fan of the simple authentic Italian food, so i also tried the Spaghetti Aili Oili (maybe I spelled it wrong, but I am an expert on the taste) and this was only ok, it seemed the garlic was baked/grilled a bit to long. They offered the Parmesano, which was good, the pasta was well al dente. Who knows or sees me knows that no meal can finish without the desert, so I tried the obligatory Tiramisu, mine was quite good, well soaked and rich in coffee with fluffy cream filling, certainly one of the better ones in China.
For the ambience, ok, I am not into those flashing 'Christmas' lights in the windows, so I think the place could do much better with some more elegant or classy touches, but still they made some seperations, so not too much noise from anoying neighbours.
The service was good, surprisingly there when needed but luckily never standing behind me all the time.
From my view the prices are ok, certainly higher then some of the pizza chains, but they offer good authentic Italian food, so in my opinion the good value for money.
So I think for all the people who love the real taste, it might be the good alternatives to other places which I am still going to try, so have fun.
