 Bad experience...unfortunatly,  Thursday, 31 July 2008

I'm sorry to say I've had a somewhat bad impression of this restaurant. We went fo a team dinner in the basement where there is a buffer. It was pretty expensive (148RMB each), but the food was pretty ok. Not fancy, but hey...it's a buffet.
The ambiance was a bit weird as there were some musicians playing romantic mousic, which was not realy suitable for a buffer.
The thing that pissed us off though is that one of us dropped a plastic cover they put over someones place to keep it warm while they were going for another round of food and it broke. When paying the bill (over 1100RMB) without asking, they charged us 80RMB for the plastic cover. There was no discussion possible, this was standard procedure according to them...needless to say we will not be visiting them again...

Oktoberfest??? Not how I remember it,  Monday, 05 November 2007

I went to Paulaner yesterday in high spirit for the Oktoberfest. I remembered from Shanghai the great time I had there with a roasting pig on the spit outside, everything half price and an overcrowded bar singing and dancing to German schlager music.

In Dalian I was very disappointed when I saw that Oktoberfest meant selling souvernirs and nothing else. I have to admit I didn't stay for the band as I'm not prepared to pay high Western for food in China and many with my I guess since the place was totally empty...nice Oktoberfest

 Renewed Carrefour...better?,  Friday, 04 May 2007

Walking around in Carrefour at HuanheLu Xi'an Lu, I noticed they moved things around a bit. The electronics are now at the entrance andat a first glance it seems a good improvement. Everything is more open and organized. The electronics department of Carrefour is my favourite among the supermarkets, with a descent selection and good prices.
When you get to the escalator down, it becomes horror though as you are forced to make a U turn past cosmtics and a cashier with a horde of women. As Carrefour is always hot and overcrowded, this is a BAD THING.

I like carrefour for their bread and I buy some household electronics there, but if I don't have to, I don't like to go there, because it is just to crowded. Thubs up for the newly stocked paprika spices though :)

I still prefer Wallmart on Xi'an Lu, I can spend as much time browsing trough the products as I like and I don't get the urge to flee the battlefield. The also seem to have a more consistent stock.

Best pasta I've had in China!,  Wednesday, 04 April 2007

Good food, quiet enviroment, friendly staff and cheap prices (for Western food). Ideal for lunch or dinner when I'm at work :)
