We recently moved to a new apartment in Dalian and used this relocation company. We packed and unpacked our own boxes and just needed the company to pick them up and deliver them to our new place across town. They charged 180 RMB if you had under 30 boxes and 240 RMB for over 30, and if the distance is under 10 km it's a little cheaper. I believe there are other factors that go into calculating the cost as well, such as which floor they have to deliver to and whether or not there is an elevator. There were no English-speaking staff, so we needed a Chinese-speaker to confirm the price and make the reservation for us. Overall, we were satisfied with their service and had no complaints.
Went to Fajitas today and was surprised to see that the place was cleared out and locked up, the shop's sign had been taken down and there was a note posted on the door. My driver told me something like "ting ye" (does that mean it has closed down?) Disappointing. I hope they're not gone for good. Does anyone know anything about it?
The driver and I had trouble finding the place the first time I went. The sign says "Punc" and "Peter's Ultimate Nutrition Club" in difficult to read, small curvy yellow letters, but if you're expecting this then you should be able to find it. I believe if you're facing the front of the MyKal on Xi'an Lu (which is also called the Roosevelt Shopping Center) then you go to your left and make a right turn onto the street just beside the building (Ruyi Jie), go down that street and it'll be on your right side after you pass Bally fitness club (which is connected to the left side of MyKal/Roosevelt building).
The first time I went, it was for one of their party events with a bunch of English teachers and we had a good time. The drinks are affordable (around 15-25 RMB) and they have a range of sweet cocktails that I like. If you catch the bartenders when they aren't too busy they're willing to experiment and make whatever drink you request (as long as you tell them how to make it and they have the ingredients). They made a pretty decent Mojito one night for me and a friend, but once I tried to help a girl order a Cosmopolitan and it didn't work because we weren't sure what was in it.
I like the interior setup. They've got a dance floor, several closed-in tables facing the bar downstairs, and a few more couches with enough room to dance in the upstairs loft as well. What keeps me coming back are the Latin Dance Nights on the weekends organized by a dance teacher who I guess knows the bar owner. Some nights are busier than others, and some weeks they rotate between Fridays and Saturdays or don't have them, but so far it's the only place in Dalian where I've found Salsa dancing. I'll definitely be back!
Just opened this year. A nice place, worth a visit. Great selection of coffees, teas, icies, and smoothies. The Californian co-owner, Joe, is a really nice guy. Says he brought most of the decorations over from the States. When you walk in you feel as if you've stepped out of China for a moment and into California. Great environment, nice vibe. I'd describe it as a cross between a relaxing coffee shop, an American diner, and a Hard Rock Cafe minus the loud music. Not to mention, lots of English magazines to peruse.
Downsides - The location (out past software park) is a bit out of the way from where I live. Some of the food, though not bad, isn't quite as authentic as I'd expect from an American owner and they were out of several items on the menu, but Joe says they're working on improving it.
The theme park itself is not bad. Don't be expecting Disney World or anything like that, but they do have a few decent rides and an action show with jumping motorcycles and other stunts. I didn't see any characters dressed up greeting children, maybe they only have those at certain times. If you go on a weekday (not weekend or holiday) then it's probably enjoyable, but I don't recommend doing what we did. We went on a Saturday evening because the price drops to 100RMB after 5:00 p.m. Unfortunately, endless mobs of people had decided to go the same route. After waiting about an hour and a half for tickets to even get into the park, we had to choose which 1 ride we wanted to go on because they all had extremely long lines. As if waiting several hours in line at theme parks back home is not annoying enough, imagine adding in the China factor! Literally every few minutes there are groups of people cutting in front of you and no one even blinks an eye. They think that if they have a friend in the front of the line they are automatically entitled to jump over the railing in front of everyone else who has been waiting for hours. Even the Russians have learned to play the game. We were approached several times by people assuming we were Russian just because we are white and trying to convince us to pretend we were their friends so they could cut in. If you're not used to this system (or lack thereof) it's just about enough to drive a person mad.
So if you do go, I suggest making it on a weekday.
