Not much Thai restaurant here in Dalian (2 as I've known, despite there are not a few number of Thai ppl here :))

I feel like this restaurant is just like other branches of Thai restaurant's franchise in oversea, for sure you won't get the traditional Thai taste. But you might enjoy the taste which might be called "International" taste.

The decoration, must say it's quite nice, but a little to much. Feeling like i'm in the KTV ;p

Cost..
Some said here is cheaper compare to Guan Di, well, not really people. Some are cheaper but comes with less quantity, some are pretty much equivalent cost.

I'm Thai Student in Dalian,I think the food is not much appriciate.Taste is not real thai food. And It's quite expensive! Maybe because it's only one thai food restaurant in dalian. and some ingrediant need to import from thailand. But one thing I do really love is the decoration... Better than banana leaf in thailand. :) if you're looking for thai food, here you can enjoy it.

a simple review..., Monday, 14 July 2008

Having spend a few years in Thailand and loving Thai food, following recommendations,I went with a few people for dinner to Banana leaf and these are my "subjective" review.
Decoration/ Ambience: found it over the board, too much, why using so much plastic, fake trees?
Service: I must say, attentive, efficient and speedy. Well done...
Food: Decided to go head on with the green papaya salad, which was quiet tasty, right spice balance but missing some Thai flavor. The mixed platter was a good choice, especialy the fish cake, spring rolls, Chicken padanus leaf lacked of marinade, others were good. Followed with green curry beef; beef was tender and the sauce was tastful. Thai noodles, one of my favorite were soaky and completely out of being authentic. Smoked pomfret, left it..As a general comment, It would be nice to have steamed rice served automaticaly with curry (you need to order). Experience...well, you should try.

Have been there twice now, once for dinner and once for lunch. HUGE colorful picture menu in English, some of the staff also speaks English. Very clean - glasses were sparkling! Food was delicious, and huge portions! Staff was very attentive. Great place for kids as well since there's areas to walk around and lots of choices in the menu. Very clean restrooms as well.
