PIZZA Cool, Thursday, 17 January 2008

Had a Phillie steak and cheese Pizza last night. It was great. The price is what you would expect for western food here. Eddie's is a small taste of home.

Unfortunately disappointing, Sunday, 01 April 2007

Written by dalianmat   -  View all my reviews  - Top 100 Reviewer

After having tasted some of Eddie's goodies at the coffee meeting I was eager to order a bulk load of bagels for my wife and I. So I called in advance to order 100rmb worth of Cinnamon Raisin Bagels and they were speedily prepared for the next morning. While I was there I picked up some muffins and some French Bread. Eddie was really polite and helpful and I headed home to sample some of my purchases.

Unfortunately I was sorely disappointed. The French bread was fine, but compared to Carrefour's bread it was expensive and not quite as good. The muffins were great, no complaints there. The bagels however were awful. Never in my life had I tasted such bland bagels. Firstly they didn't have the texture that bagels should have. They were as light as the French bread. Secondly we struggled to find more than 1 raisin in each bagel and you couldn't taste any cinnamon. Disappointed I was. Now I have a freezer full of bagels that I won't be eating.

I was also disappointed with the selection of goods that were available when I went (on the weekend). Besides a few loaves of bread and muffins there was literally nothing else on display. With the list that I was given I would have expected there to be a greater variety. At the end of the day how many bakeries have you been to that you must order first in order to get what you want?

I like Eddie and I will be returning to the baker if I am in the vicinity. However, I won't be purchasing bagels again, and I'll stick to Carrefour bread at half the price.

Thank Goodness For Eddie The Baker, Saturday, 31 March 2007

Eddie the Baker is amazing. His baked goods are delicious and he delivers!

I asked him if he could make a New York cheesecake - a real one - like the kind you get in the States, and he did. It was delicious.

I've also enjoyed his bagels, tortillas, muffins and bread. Yum!
