Name (Chinese): Didi's (Cicili Pizza)比萨店 Address (Chinese): 人民广场 Address (Pinyin): Renmin Square District: Xigang Directions: in Noah's Arc Bar - south side of Renmin Square Telephone Number: 8368-4798
is there an alternative meeting place for sunday coffee. i have been there several times and do not find the atmosphere relaxing. although the chairs are definitely comfortable. the coffee cup is served half full with milk and sugar on the side. the price is often quoted as 33 rmb per cup...and there is no bubbler.
went to noah's bar the other day-- had some pizza and a salad-- the pizza place works alongside noah's bar, but both have different owners
the garden salad was very well-prepared with lots of fresh stuff;the pizza was good-- tasty with enough ingredients on them-- YUP-- i had 2 pizzas, but did share with others
i understand that the pleasant and energetic pizza owner will be setting up her own place by the end of 2008-- i think she will do well and hope to visit the new place and try her food again
now, if the service at noah's could only improve!!
A solid attempt at east coast-style pizza, and about as good as you're going to get in China.
Only complaint is that the crust was a bit overcooked, but otherwise everything tasted dandy.
Be forewarned: "garden salad," as is the case anywhere in China, resembles more some sort of mixed vegetable coleslaw than a garden salad.

DiDi; real American thin crust pizza, Saturday, 28 April 2007
I tried a number of American eatery's that disappointed, but not DiDi's. It has real Pizza Hut flavor, they don't skip on the toppings and the flavor is double over-eat. Plus, for 55 Yuan, I get a drink of my choice, all of that tasty pizza I can eat (they keep it coming non-stop too), all I can eat bread, a good tossed salad and some nice fruit salad are also included in the price.
One of the best part for me that bumped the ambiance rating ('cuz the place itself is ordinary) is the great company of other expats from all walks of life. As a teacher, the Dalian Expat outing give me a chance to talk with other about something besides school. I might add that it is a roundly mixed group of many nationalities and everyone speaks in English.
BTW, by all rights, I should give them a 10 on the food, heaven knows I eat enough of it that the casual observer would think I had found gold.
