Having been stationed in Chengdu ( Sichuan ) for almost 4 years, i was addicted to Sichuan hotpot. Therefore, i needed to find a fix in Dalian.

Luckily there is Huang Cheng Lao Ma Hotpot. The taste is as good and authentic as you can find in Sichuan. All the staff there are from Sichuan including the chefs. Especially the spicy soup base. Haven't tried the non spicy base though because i like hot and spicy.

The decoration is good and the place is clean. However, price is considered steep but will always return as i love the spicy soup base there. 2 persons will set you back about RMB160-200 depending on what you order.

Arguably the best Hot Pot Restaurant around. After going there last night and at least about 30 other times, I should be called an addict.

For the pot they have non-spicy soup and the unique very spicy soup. Even the most tolerant of spicy food lovers should get a kick from the spicy side but I couldn't recommend it highly enough.

The food is the freshest and best I have found after many trips to other similar restaurants. Although they are a bit pricier, you can see the difference in quality.

I would recommend the Lamb, the Prawn Balls(so good) and the Black Beer just complements the food perfectly. Just remember to take your time, I've seen people throw in everything together and end up with a pile of overcooked food.

As a foodie back home, this is one restaurant I will sorely miss when I return to Australia.
