An ok place for yakiniku, Thursday, 06 September 2007
My husband and I went to this restaurant just on the off chance. My husband is Japanese and so I was interested to see what his comments/feelings in regard to this place.
We went on a Friday or Saturday night (cant remember which one)and the place was virtually deserted - not a good start I am thinking. The food on whole was ok but the price for what we got was way over the top. Usually at a yakiniku place you get a good helping of meat and vegetables at a fairly decent price but not here. The service was also relatively slow - surprising given there was only one other table of people.
My husband was very disappointed and so was I with the restaurant overall and I wouldnt recommend it to anyone wishing to try yakiniku. There are better places around which charge less for what you get. My husband does know a good yakiniku place and when he takes me there I will advise those who are interested.
Neat Japanese restaurant. Very good food. A bit challenging to order something unless you can read Japanese or Chinese. They have one English speaking waitress and she was able to help us through the menu. I haven’t seen any tepanyaki. It's a yakiniku restaurant and therefore every table has a grill. You suppose to grill the food yourself but I guess we were lucky. They did it for us. We had a very nice spinach salad(the spinach though was almost inexistent; mostly Chinese cabbage) to start with. The rice dish and the Japanese noodles were very nice. The meat dish came a bit late. We got an explanation which I didn’t understand but most probable they simply forgot to bring it.The service was pretty good(other than the incident with the meat),and not intrusive.
They also have a good selection of coffee. My husband tried espresso and it was very good.
We also added 4 beers and the total damage was 330rmb for 3 people. Not cheap but actually the beer and the coffee were more expensive than the food.
Overall a pretty good dinner.I would like to go back there but with someone who speaks chinese or japanese.I've seen some nice looking dishes on the other tables which I would like to try.
