Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport!, Monday, 31 March 2008
A fellow teacher from Japan and I went there on Saturday 29 March 2008. Mr. Heiney, the teacher from Japan, and I had eaten shashimi at a nearby Japanese place before heading over to Kangaroo Bar.
I had read a few things about the bar here and figured I'd give it a mention to my friend. Mr. Heiney is not into bars, but the other teacher was game.
We wandered in and met the owner, Paul. He's a really great fellow and is quite knowledgeable about the area. He's been in China for about five and a half years.
The beer selection is not HUGE, but they have about 6 to 8 true imports such as Bitburger from Germany and Coopers from Australia. Of course the local made "imports" are available such as Budwiser. And you can get Tsingdao. There is no draft beer.
The liquor prices are decent, I think, but when we were there, a large group of Dutch guys were there and were quite happy to buy everyone copious rounds of drinks!
The place is small, but that's not really a bad thing. The two girls behind the bar are friendly and their English is quite good.
Popcorn and such in terms of bar food is available. Also, Martoni Pizza is available, though I didn't have any. I just glanced at the menu and cant remember the price. I gave food a "5" because I didn't try it and don't remember the prices.
All-in-all, Kangaroo Bar is a nice place and I'll be happy to go back again and see some friendly people and have some decent beer.

The Kangaroo Bar is Relaxed........, Sunday, 10 February 2008
We frequent the "Aussie Bar" whenever we are on that side of Jinzhou. Hannah (speaks very good english BTW), the manager for Paul, is a great host and will ensure that your stay there is enjoyable. The prices are probably average for the bars in the city.
No DJ, tunes from the computer, but just about anything that you want to hear, or if you have a CD they will play it for you.
No restaraunt, snacks or what I like to call "Bar Food", nuts, popcorn etc...
Small place that is inhabited by mostly Xpats, a few natives come in from time to time. There is no dance floor, just a place to sit and talk and enjoy a drink or two.
