Britton and Jim
Cafe Vienna, A Hidden Gem in KFQ, Friday, 25 April 2008

Written by Britton and Jim   -  View all my reviews  - Top 50 Reviewer

Heard about Cafe Vienna from a friend, read a couple of reviews and decided to check it out, really glad that we did.

We went for the buffet on Friday night (40 RMB per person). The food was great. Lasagna, Mashed Potatoes, Salad, Various Beef Dishes (No Bones), Real Chicken Strips (No Bones), just to name a few of the items on the buffet. There were more but too many to list.

Lots of Xpats there, but not too crowded, I suspect that will change as word spreads around more. The staff was very friendly. Sally (Kind of the Bar Manager) speaks very good English and Heinz (One of the Owners) speaks very good English as well.

The drink prices are in the normal range of a bar, except for the Buffet price. If you go a way hungry at 40 RMB then it's your own fault. They also have a pretty good wine selection to choose from.

The atmosphere was very relaxed without the music so loud that you can't carry on a conversation. Nice decor and an upstairs area with tables and sofas for a more private evening.

All in all we will be going back for sure. It is nice find a place for those of us that live in Jinzhou without having to go to the City Center when we want to have a nice meal and a relaxing evening out.

My New Friday Evening Starter, Saturday, 19 April 2008

Written by MJBjorn   -  View all my reviews  - Top 50 Reviewer

I have been to Cafe Vienna a couple of times and had not developed any type of opinion because the stops where quick in/outs. This last Friday I was a different as I was there with friends and before long even more people I know showed up. We stayed for the Friday night buffet and it was great. Unfortunately the buffet has gotten so popular that the food was gone in minutes, which everyone hopes with the buffet popularity will change next week. The beer is price reasonable, plus the beer they have on tap is good.

The music is good, however I did not ask if I could play some tunes from my IPOD, maybe I will nest week as it is usually in my pocket. The Staff speaks English and is friendly, but I am still trying out my Mandarin. Mixed drinks could be improved, but until then I will stick with the Beer and food for now.

See you there next week

Nice place for a happy hour beer, Friday, 28 March 2008

Written by Jeremy   -  View all my reviews  - Top 50 Reviewer

Have stopped by this place a few times recently. It is a nice clean bar in 5 Color City, good alternative to the seedier places in the area. Cheap and cold beers, good but weak mixed drinks. Friendly staff that speaks decent english. Usually not crowded at all.

Have not tried any food there. The music is served up from an IPOD, and you can choose the tunes if you wish.....
